Apostille for your documents
An apostille replaces legalisation between countries that are party to the 1961 Hague Convention. It must be issued in the country that produced the document, and we arrange it for you wherever that is.
An apostille is a single certificate issued by the competent authority of the issuing country. It authenticates the signature, the capacity of the signatory and, where relevant, the seal on a public document. Once apostilled, the document is recognised in every other member country without going through an embassy.
Good to know: at the time of writing (2026), Benin is not a party to the Apostille Convention. A document issued in Benin therefore cannot be apostilled; it is legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then by the embassy or consulate of the destination country. Likewise, a foreign document intended for a Beninese authority generally needs to be legalised rather than apostilled.
Our apostille service is therefore mainly for documents issued abroad: a diploma from France, a US birth certificate, a Canadian company extract… Our offices and partners lodge the document with the competent authority in the issuing country and return it to you in Benin or straight to its destination.
Our prices depend on the document, language, formalities and deadline, so every request gets a free, no-obligation quote.

Frequently asked questions
Can a Beninese birth certificate be apostilled?
Not at present: since Benin is not a party to the Apostille Convention, its public documents go through legalisation (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the destination country's embassy or consulate). We handle the whole chain.
Should the original or the translation be apostilled?
It depends on the destination country. Often the original is apostilled and then translated; some countries also want the translation apostilled. We confirm the exact order before starting.
How long does an apostille take?
It depends on the issuing country's authority, from a few days to a few weeks, plus shipping. We give you a realistic estimate in the quote.
